Feb. 4th, 2013 04:10 pmWhile I love the Contour glucose monitor so far (yay for alternate test sites and less blood!), the free lancet device they give you with it is an utter piece of shit, especially compared to the one that came with the One Touch (even though I still think the One Touch is evil for the amount of blood it requires and how little explanation it gives you of the test process in the booklet).
The Bayer lancet device feels cheap, and the cap is very hard to get on and off, making it more likely that you'll accidentally stick yourself. The lancets are also very hard to remove, and they don't fire very well--I just had to do three attempts to draw blood from my arm, and I haven't needed that many for weeks.
I'm probably going to buy another lancet device so I don't have to use the Bayer ones as my extras; the reviews seem to suggest the accucheck multiclix is the best one.
